Dear congressman,

I’m a concerned citizen, writing in regards to my opinion on the United States going to war with Germany and other Central Powers. I feel as of we were to go to war with Germany, we would come out with a striking win. Germany was already at war with the allies, and came out with a loss and was also forced to sign a peace treaty. With that being said, Germany is already at a vulnerable state, so if we attack, they won’t have much fight in them. My theory on this seems possible and worth trying. Germany has nothing that we can’t fight. Germany also had to reduce their army to 10,000 as one of the requirements of the Versailles Treaty. With a reduced army, and hardly any dignity left, if we went against Germany, it’d be no fight; we’d easily come out with a win. This is all from my point of view, and I just wanted to put my opinion out there to be thought of.

The versailles treaty

We all know world war 1 ended long ago, but how did it end? The versailles treaty took act to sum up a final end to world war 1. What was the Versailles Treaty? This was a peace settlement between Germany and the Allies that gave peace; a truce. This treaty was signed after world war 1, on June 28, 1919; exactly 5 years after Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s assassination. The treaty was signed at the Vast Versailles Palace, near Paris. The Versailles Palace was perfect in size for this event, seeing that this palace was huge and could fit hundreds. This treaty was strictly between Germany and the Allies.
Seeing that they were forced to sign this treaty, Germany was devastated after the end of World War 1. On January 18, 1919, Prime Minister David Lloyd George of the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau of France, and President Woodrow Wilson all had a conference that Germany was not invited to. In this conference, multiple things about the treaty were discussed. This was called the Paris Peace Conference. After this meeting, on on May 7, 1919,the treaty was then handed over to Germany, and legibly stated that Germany only had a time span of 3 weeks to respond and agree with the treaty. Germany was stuck; they either sign the treaty, or be invaded by allies. This treaty was forced upon Germany, and Germany had no choice but to agree and sign the treaty.
The treaty was very lengthy; a good 440 articles that were all split up into 15 parts built the core of the treaty. The Versailles Treaty contained information about the league of nations, military limitations, prisoners of war, finances, access to ports and waterways, and reparations. The treaty’s first term was territory; Germany got multiple pieces of land taken away. Another term included military; Germany’s army was reduced to 10,000 soldiers, and they were not allowed tanks. The final general term was the financial term, which included reparation and damage costs.
How did the Versailles affect Germany? Germany had to admit to full responsibility of starting the war, which included paying reparations, and also had to pay for damage cause to itself and the opposing side.
Although the treaty was mainly punishing Germany, Germany did not back down, as they clearly saw and accepted that they were at fault for the treaty as well. After this treaty, the League Of Nations was created to maintain and keep world peace.
